The WATERSCAPE PAINTINGS shown below are about the way water interacts, changes and carves out the land on its way down to the ocean. They relate to Little Qualicum River Falls and French Creek Estuary, and aim to capture
aspects of my experiences with these places.
The estuary at French Creek is home to many Puget Sound Garter snakes that inhabit the rocks surrounding the harbour.,
On one of my visits in early spring I was lucky enough to see them warming themselves in the sunshine, and later found an intact shed skin, about two feet long, complete with head.
I had visions of the snake shimmying out of his skin like Marilyn Monroe out of one of her
beautiful glove-tight evening gowns.
